New Features in Version 2.97
Changes for version 2.97:
-
Pal list with real-time cross-directory online checking. The users in your zap list are your "pals", and you will be
notified when they are online and visible in the directory.
-
New sounds for messages, online alerts, etc.
-
Power clean. Allows you to clean out your zap list with a few clicks of your mouse.
-
Auto software update. CDC32 can now automatically update and patch itself when bug fixes become available. No more download and installation headaches.
-
Message authentication. CDC32 now tells you
if a message doesn't look consistent (if it is corrupted or tampered with.)
Forwarded messages are slightly different, and authentication will tell
you who originated the message (or give you a warning if something
doesn't look right.)
-
TCP video/audio to make use via firewalls easier.
-
Bug workarounds for lame Win98/ME networking limitations
New Features in Version 2.91
Changes for version 2.91:
-
Directory refresh is smoother.
-
Multiple servers tagged with various
general interests. The old server can be accessed via the "classic" tab
in the new interface. The classic server will eventually be phased out.
-
Net|accept calls was moved to the call
screening setup page, as it should have been in the first place.
-
Resizable directory window.
New Features in Version 2.77
Changes for version 2.77:
-
Better Audio/Video sync for zap messages
recorded at 8 frames per second or more. Cdc32 also syncs up your old zap
messages (with varying degrees of success.)
-
Invisibility in the directory.
-
Direct Video/Audio zap messages. Cdc32 now
tries to send zaps directly if it can.
-
Lots of bugs fixed and minor performance improvements.
-
Better handling of broken video capture drivers
(Logitech, are you reading this?)
-
Faster refreshing of the directory.
-
No more rooms inside of rooms (nobody seemed
to know what to do with them :-))
-
New advanced menu on the zap list allows control
of individual entries.
-
Session IGNORE when someone calls you. Allows
you to ignore people that are calling you repeatedly.
-
The directory hides all users that you ignore,
as well as hiding you from those you ignore.
-
Better focus handling. When a box unexpectedly
pops up while you are typing, it won't disrupt your typing as in previous
versions.
-
No more super-spams. Only 20 people at a time
can be spammed. Future versions of cdc32 will have a super-spam button
to make random chat requests.
-
BUGS THAT WON'T BE FIXED: if two people are
using different versions of cdc32, and one is using the G-rated area, and
the other is in the Adult area, some direct zap messages may not
be delivered properly between the two of them. WORKAROUND: both should
upgrade to version 2.77.
New Features in Version 2.31
Changes for version 2.31:
-
CDC32 is now ADWARE. There is no longer a
color timeout. It is full color all the time. CDC32 now displays advertisements
in order to support maintenance and development of new features. If you
pay for CDC32, you get a version of the software that doesn't have advertising.
-
There is now a G-rated section in addition
to an Adults-only section. You can switch between the sections if
you want. You can also lock the rating so it cannot be changed after installation.
Calls and zaps can optionally be filtered based on what rating you are
in.
-
CDC32 now sends most zap messages (those without
audio and video) directly if it can. If it can't, it automatically falls
back to sending through the server.
-
The zap list is now COLORIZED based
on whether a user is in your online list or not. Click the help on the
zap list to get details on what the colors mean.
-
Bug fixes for a few nasty crashes, especially
those that were caused right at shutdown.
-
If you have unread messages when you exit,
CDC32 prompts you and will optionally delete all the unread messages. A
quick and easy way to empty a full mailbox.
-
The directory listing is now sorted in a special
way.
-
IMPORTANT... READ THIS... Starting
with this release, email address are not displayed to other users of the
system, and in addition, the server does not send out email addresses (even
to users of older versions of the software). Email addresses are now only
used internally at Dwyco, Inc. It is our policy to never disclose your
email address to other parties. In order to use the automatic
password retrieval feature, you must enter an email address that is
valid. Entering an email address is still OPTIONAL, but if you leave your
password blank, you will not be able to retrieve your password easily if
you lose it.
New Features in Version 2.16
Changes for version 2.16:
-
You can now IGNORE users. Ignoring someone
causes their messages to be dropped on the floor and their calls to be
automatically rejected.
-
You can see if someone is online or not in
the directory. Users with red and blue next to their names are online,
others are offline.
-
The Zap Messages you send are now saved along
with the messages sent to you. They can be displayed by checking a box
in the "Show old messages" dialog.
-
Lots of bug fixes.
-
Message viewer boxes are now resizable.
New Features in Version 2.00
Changes for version 2.00:
-
Much of the UI has been revamped to look a
bit better.
-
Zap Messages allow you to send audio and video
messages to someone even though they are not currently online. They are
notified the next time they start CDC32, or immediately if they are online
when you send the message.
-
Users can create rooms and protect them with
a password. Only the user that created the room can delete it. Rooms can
be created inside other rooms, allowing people to generate their own chat
systems.
-
Better setup procedures when you first start
the program. The Wizard takes you through the audio and video setup.
-
Dynamic bandwidth adjustment for video links.
Removes the necessity for hand adjustment that was present in version 0.95.
Make conferencing much more user friendly.
-
Easier to use connection setups. Common link
configurations are available from a single click of a button instead of
the more general connect box as in 0.95.
New Features in Version 0.95
Changes for version 0.95:
-
Much of the UI has been revamped to look a
bit better.
-
The Toolbar is now configurable to have big,
small, or no buttons.
-
Video is now COLOR, if your hardware supports
it. In the unregistered shareware version, color transmission and reception
is limited to several minutes total time.
-
Private chat is now supported. In addition,
private chat is "real-time", rather than line-at-a-time.
-
There is now an option to QUICKCONNECT to
someone. This automates connecting, but the user doesn't get a chance to
select the media types to be sent/received over the link.
-
When CDC32 is started from the command line
with an option, it is assumed to be an IP address or hostname to be connected
to. This allows CDC32 to be used with ICQ.
